Carina Mac Laughlan is highly dedicated in abused horse rehabilitation. She is fully devoted to the horses brought to light in her pictures. Although Carina,s horses were accused and convicted, she emancipated them, freeing them with her care, alowing them the expresion of harmony and compassion to their wildness. She witnessed their recovery, after they had been abused, discarded, and misunderstood, they improved and became breathtaking. Her secret: a conjunction of mutual respect, care, loyalty and faithful love, always keeping in mind that they are horses, no more, no less. Her artwork reveals stunning stallions' natural beauty, explores their souls, and reveals their essence and reminds us that horse is man's noblest conquest, a conquest which requires respect and awareness.

This Scottish woman Born in London UK in 1963 lived in Belgium, France, United Kingdom and South Africa. After computer sciences studies, in 1988 she created a computer consulting company in Switzerland, combined with a life dedicated to horses. In 2003, she decided to give herself exclusively to her Artwork. She moved her Clan of horses to Burgundy/France.

Carina's Clan ? A herd of height stallions and a few vagabond horses that she was able to rescue.?“As far as I can remember, horses have always fascinated me. I started to ride and take pictures as a child and have never stopped since. A lifetime living with and taking care of horses allows me proximity with them as to obtain a special and unusual trust from my models for photographic work.?The horses that inspired these photos are part of my clan, not that of my name but that of my heart. If these horses have become my companions, it is because their paths crossed with mine the day when they became too much or excessive, too nervous, too cumbersome, too emotionally disturbed. As a child, I thought that to love horses you had to ride them and it is only after long years of obstinate riding I finally understood my mistake. From sitting on their backs, I have come to lie down at their feet”

Carina Mac Laughlan's creative work also became a book in 2015 : “Le clan des Vagabonds. Confidences de chevaux révoltés” (Clan of Vagabonds. Confessions of rebel horses), published in France by Editions Escargot Savant, and can be purchased on Refuge de Darwyn’s website :
